Webb and his companions set out for both scientific observation and big-game hunting, traveling through parts of Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, and the Indian Territory. Includes detailed and colorful descriptions of buffalo hunts, encounters with prairie dogs, wolves, antelope, and other native species as well as Native Americans. This book contains much information on the buffalo, the plains, Indians, hunting, Buffalo Bill, Wild Bill Hickok, etc. Six Guns # 2331 says "Rare" and "Contains some material on Wild Bill Hickok (which the author spells Hickock). He admits that Wild Bill gained his reputation 'through Harper's Magazine' and says that 'much has been written about him is fiction." An attractively bound book with a few tiny rubs to the leather else a near fine copy and the nicest copy that we have handled.
