First edition. 12" x 9" in embossed tan wrappers showing Arts & Crafts decoration and raised gilt lettering on front wrapper. 32 pp. Numerous text illustrations, some nearly full page. Introduction. Specifications. Testimonials. Scarce and well-illustrated catalog of Edwardian cook stoves, and commercial ranges. Detailed information offered about the construction of the stoves and ranges. The Born ranges incorporated a number of attractive features including shields at the sides of top flue to retain heat, easily reached adjustable flue so that the cook would not be burned reaching up to the top of the stove, heavy cast iron tops that stand wear and tear, planished iron patent turn closet doors, and more. The Born Steel Range Company was originally founded by Charles Born (d. 1876), and then the company was reorganized with his two brothers Frederick & Henry prospering with F. & H. Born Steel Range Co. until Frederick’s death in 1891. The company would eventually become the Cleveland Range Co., and then part of Alco Standard Corp. Former owner's sticker at upper margin of title page along with 1 1/2" closed tear to edge of page 5 and with light soiling to page edges. Light soiling to wrappers and with light wear to the extremities. Very good.
