Publication: Clarendon Press, 1938, Clarendon, Texas
"True" first edition. 8vo. Pictorial wrappers, (16), 244 pp., illustrated by H. D. Bugbee, 23.5cm, appendix. Herd 1330 says, "The first printing of this book was quickly withdrawn by the publishers on account of typographical errors and omissions. This first printing differs from the commonly accepted "first" finally issued in that it does not contain the introduction by John McCarty, the "contents" precedes the "foreword," it does not include the "list of illustrations," and it does not have the Roman numerals as page numbers prior to the main text. It also has a different binding and the name "Newbury" was spelled "Newberry." About 25 copies were issued before errors were discovered. This edition was destroyed, and the book was reprinted in an edition of 1000 copies, followed later by another printing of 2000." The story of the Texas Panhandle. Cattle, Indians, buffalo hunters, etc. Fine, bright, unread copy.
