First edition. 8vo. Printed wrappers, 437 pp., illustrated, tables, maps. Texas Agricultural Experiment Station Bulletin 297. Youngblood's dissertation at University of Wisconsin. A detailed economic survey of a "typical" ranching area in the Edwards Plateau region of Texas. It combines both survey data (land uses, costs, outputs, etc.) and social studies (demographic, institutional, social traits) to understand how ranching works in that area, what constraints there are, and what the economics look like. Six Score says "...book yields insights into the problems of ranching in southwest Texas in the early part of this century." Covers soiled with numerous chips, nicks and corner creases to the covers and the entire text, else a tight and complete copy of one of two major economic studies on ranching [Dale's Range Cattle Industry being the other]. A good, tight copy.
