First edition thus. 8vo. Pamphlet reprinted from Panhandle-Plains Historical Review, 1932, Vol. V. Printed wrappers, n.p. [13 pp.], footnotes. Ealy Moore was one of the X I T trail bosses, who drove the Montana Trail in its waning years. On the trail there was little time for, and even less inducement to, the keeping of a record or a journal. However Ealy Moore was one of those few persistently careful individuals who kept a log of the trail, written accounts of the herd, records of the provisions he bought, and of wages paid the cook and cowboys. Often laconic in tone, the log is kept in characteristic economy of the cowboy language. In spite of the brevity, the information provides intimate details of trail life rarely found in reminiscent accounts. Light wear to the spine ends, else near fine, housed in a quarter morocco and cloth clamshell case with titles stamped in gold gilt on the on spine.
