First edition.("This booklet, issued during the summer of 1912, is the fifth issued, and the first since the summer of 1908."). 6" x 9" oblong pictorial printed wrappers, 56 pp. [including covers], illustrated from cattle ranching photographs. This is a promotional booklet advising prospective buyers of how S. M. S. does business as they cite in some detail how their cattle are usually sold in their calf and yearling period and always at a price per head. They discuss information regarding separation into breed characteristics, terms of sale, open orders, pasture weights and shinkage in transit, maintenance of S. M. S. feed pens and mixer plant, S. M. S. breeding herd, number of head per rail car, railroad rates, and much, much more. The booklet promotes their home area of Stamford, Texas located in Jones County. Frank S. Hastings is the manager. Laid-in is an original mailing envelope. Herd 2269 lists only the 1922 issue. Minor wear to the front cover, else a fine, bright copy. Scarce ranching item.
