Publication: Neiman-Marcus, 1939, Dallas
First edition. 4to. Pictorial boards, n. p. [16 pp.]. Designed and printed by Carl Hertzog. 415 copies have been printed of which 300 are for sale. This book was commissioned by Stanley Marcus and sold at the Neiman-Marcus store during the Christmas season. His intention was to create a Texas centric book so that out-of-state visitors would have a unique gift to take back home or send to friends and family. Ink stamp on front pastedown of the great granddaughter of James Harper Starr, first Treasurer of the Republic. The ink stamp has lightly bled over to the front free fly leaf, spine panel has light restoration to repair a bit of splitting, else a near fine copy of a scarce item. Included is the tattered original mailing envelope with Hertzog's return address. On the front cover of the envelope is a penciled note reading: "From Carl Hertzog for 1945 Book Auction." Presumably, this was for TSHA auction at the annual meeting.
