Publication: Harper & Brothers, 1958, New York
First edition. Author's fifth suspense novel. Inscribed by the author on the front fly leaf. Fine in dust jacket with one tiny closed tear to the bottom of the rear cover panel and lightly rubbed on the spine. A tale of murder and detection set in Mexico City, the story is reminiscent of Graham Greene's fictions and is considered by some to be one of her best novels. Ramon and Theodore are friends and both are Lelia's lovers. When Lelia is found murdered and mutilated, suspicion falls on both men. The real killer must be identified in order to prove their innocence.
