JIMMIE RODGERS (1897-1933). Rodgers, the father of country music known as “The Singing Brakeman” is best remembered for his early country songs that featured his yodeling. His best known tunes include “Blue Yodel” and “In The Jailhouse Now.”
8” x 10”.black and white studio photograph inscribed “To my good friends, Uncle Jimmie and Mrs. Wright, I wish you happiness & health always, Remember me as your friend, Jimmie Rodgers, 12-21-32.” Rodgers is shown in a suit and a hat, and strumming a guitar; the photograph’s printed inscription states “Yodelingly Yours Jimmie Rodgers America’s Blue Yodeler Exclusive Victor Star.” The photograph is matted and with with a 78 RPM Blue Yodel record, Victor 21142-A. The overall size of the carved wooden frame is 22” x 29.5”. An artist painted his name and the lyric “I was a stranger passing through your town” on the mat. Overall, a stunning and impressive autograph and display.
James Charles Rodgers was an American singer, songwriter, and musician who rose to popularity in the late 1920s. Widely regarded as the "Father of Country Music" he is best known for his distinctive yodeling. Rodgers was known as "The Singing Brakeman" and "America's Blue Yodeler."
