Publication: The Naylor Company, 1940, San Antonio

First edition. 8vo. Cloth, xvii(1), 394 pp., frontis. (portrait), illus., glossary, index. In these sixty-four stories of frontier life in the Southwest is fascinating, dramatic reading of history as lived. The purpose of this book is to bring into perspective in a single volume a picture of the way of life in the Southwest, particularly under frontier and pioneer conditions, as women interpreted it. Adams Herd #2558: "Has several chapters on cattle and cowboys." Adams Six Guns #2452: "Contains a chapter on Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett, telling about their first meeting." Former owner's name and address on front fly leaf, quite a bit of pencil notations in the margins and underlining throughout, else a very good copy in the elusive dust jacket with two large chips to the spine ends wear to the corners and extremities The notations lead me to believe that this copy at one time was owned by a book reviewer. Excellent content.
