First edition. 12mo. Original blind-stamped green cloth, titles stamped in gold gilt on the spine, x, 317 pp., footnotes, folding map of journey laid-in, appendices. Rittenhouse 409 says "Meline left Fort Leavenworth in June 1866, went up the Platte and down the South Platte to Denver; then south to Trinidad, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque. He returned east via the SFT and went to St. Louis in September. The return trip (pp. 261-99) was over the Cimarron Cutoff." Front and rear endpapers replaced, inked number at top of title page, else a very good, tight, clean copy.
