First editions. Two calling or business cards 2 1/8" x 3 1/8" for John W. Hardin Esq. / Attorney At Law / 200 1/2 El Paso / Wells Fargo Blvd. / PRACTICE IN ALL COURTS. The verso of each card is a different patterned design. Hardin was released from prison on 2/17/1894, after serving 17 years of a 25 years sentence. On July 21, 1894, he passed the bar examination. On August 19, 1895, he was shot and killed in the Acme Saloon having served as an attorney for a period of almost 13 months after his successful bar examination. Provenance from Joe Hardin Clements to Robert McNellis, the great nephew of John Wesley Hardin. Purchased from the Robert J. McCubbin Collection in January 2019. Fine condition.
