First edition. 8vo. Canada Department of Mines, National Museum of Canada, Anthropological Series, No. 12, Bulletin No. 61. Limp suede leather, titles faded on the spine, vi [2], 275 [1] pp., preface, introduction, illustrated, map. Illustrated with 33 full-page plates. This well-illustrated and detailed study of the totem poles in the Gitxsan village located at the junction of the Kispiox and Skeena Rivers in northern British
Columbia. At the time there were still over 100 poles standing in clusters from a few to over 30 scattered amongst the eight villages of the upper Skeena, including Kitselas, Kitwanga, Kitwancool, Kitsegukla, Kitanmox, Kitsekalum,
and others. An impressive study that is both tight and internally clean and a very good copy.
