First edition. 16mo. Printed wrappers, [6], 34 pp., illustrated, portraits. A paper read by William A. Pinkerton at the annual convention of International Association of Police Chiefs in St. Louis, Missouri, June 6th to June 11th, 1904. Pinkerton discusses the predicted rise to more prominence of the bank vault and safe burglar and cites several statistics that prove his point. Throughout the booklet are the pictures and brief sketches of burglars still at large and of other who are serving time in jail. This booklet was missed by Six Guns and Saddle Leather. Front and rear covers lightly soiled, light wear to spine ends and bottom corner of front cover, else a very good copy.
