Tells the story of three small narrow-gauge railroads with an aggregate length of less than 50 miles, which operated for all too brief a period of time in the harsh, but magnificent mountain canons and high sub-alpine country of southwestern Colorado. They met a need that the aggressive Denver and Rio Grande Railroad did not fill, which was to maintain the profitability of some 20 mines during the 55 years they were in existence. A beautiful book and a remarkable look at history. As new, unread copy without dust jacket, as issued.
