Publication: Privately printed, nd, NP

One of 9 carbon copies of an unpublished manuscript. 23pp. in protective folder. Edited by Ray Walton with a page signed by Ray Walton identifying the author and the limitation of this work. In 1927 an article authored by Owen P. White appeared in the Brownwood Bulletin of Brownwood, Texas stating that Bill "Bloody Bill" Anderson, famous Civil War outlaw/guerilla had just died at his ranch home in Brown County, Texas. Previously Bill Anderson was reported and believed to have been killed in an ambush by Union soldiers near Centralia, Missouri in 1864. This article began the credible controversy regarding whether Anderson was actually killed in 1864 or had he quietly escaped and hid-out in Brown County, Texas. This work reprints that article, as it also appeared in J. Marvin Hunter's Frontier Times in May, 1927. It also presents 3 other articles that appeared in Frontier Times in 1952, 1953, and 1954, two of which were author by J.J. Bishop. Two articles refer to Cole Younger's statements and Bishops latter article refers to information from Professor J.B.Carroll of Texas regarding Cole Younger and Bill Anderson's life in Texas. A very interesting account of J.J. Bishop's belief that Anderson was not killed in 1864, and lived in Texas until his death in 1927. A fine copy of a rare unpublished manuscript.
