It was common knowledge in the village of Brantham that Daniel Harland of Hunterstone Castle had gained hist vast fortune through unsavory means. His treatment of those around him, as well as the premature death of his wife had been the basis for speculation of the townsfolk that death for Harland would surely come by violence. At church Harland appeared to have the audacity to sleep during prayer. The Reverend sent the Sexton to rouse the disrespectful worshiper only to discover that Harland had been murdered!
