Publication: Riley Brothers, 1886, St Paul

First edition. 7" X 5 1/2" original brown cloth, titles stamped in black on the front cover and spine, decorated front and rear endpapers, 370 [3] pp., frontispiece, preface, introductory, illustrated, plates, advertisements. This copy calls for maps as stated on the title page but none are present. We have seen this condition present in two other issues of this title. This booklet was first issued in 1883 and perhaps maps were included with that publication. Subsequent issues were rewritten in order to make the information more up-to-date for the tourists and settlers and perhaps including the maps was overlooked. This book provides descriptions and information on all of their divisions. The divisions are the St. Paul, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Northern Dakota, Dakota, Missouri, the Yellowstone Valley, Yellowstone, Montana, Rocky Mountain, Idaho, Oregon Railway & Navigation Company, the Columbia River, Portland, and the Pacific. Also includes an outline of the Northern Pacific Railroad's history. Adam's Herd 1687 lists a copy published in 1888. Light wear to the spine ends, corners and edges else a very good copy.
