First Edition. Printed wrappers, [48pp.] Introduction. Footnotes. Bibliography. An interesting and well-researched study of Little Crow, the primary leader of the Sioux Indians that attacked and brutally murdered several hundred innocent settlers in the Sioux Uprising in Minnesota in August, 1862. While it relates much on various points in his life, this work focuses primarily on the killing and final fate of Little Crow, who was shot and killed on July 3, 1863, by two settlers, a father and son. They scalped him and took his body to Hutchinson, Minnesota, where it was displayed and mutilated. The state paid the father $500 for killing Little Crow, and paid the son $75 for his scalp. Small .5" x .5" pieces missing from bottom edge of front wrapper. Several lines written in back wrapper, else Very good. A very scarce work.
