Red lettering on front cover and spine is uniform and a bit dull, former owner's stamped name at top of front free fly leaf, else a solid and internally clean copy in very good condition lacking the rare dust jacket. Philo Vance is an amateur detective and young aristocrat who is a close friend of the new District Attorney. Vance mentions to Markham that he may enjoy going with him on a murder investigation.
