Part of this book was originally published in Dallas, 1886 under the title Western Travels and Other Rhymes. Provides ranching information on West Texas area around Hereford, Deaf Smith County. Includes pictures of rural Texas, poems, biographical material of the authors life on the T- Anchor ranch in Randall County. on cattle drives, with details on cowboy life. 19th century cowboy poetry and early songs of the Texas cattle trails. Many memories of early cowboys and other people the author knew. Historical photographs include one of Pilot Point Institute class portrait 1889. Overlooked by Ramon Adams Rampaging Herd and Six-Guns. Rare in any condition. This copy includes a newspaper article about the Poet Judge of the Panhandle affixed to the last page; a carbon copy of a one-page poem by the author titled "Gone" which is about the T-Anchor Ranch that was located in Randall County. Lightly foxed throughout, else internally clean and tight, front and rear covers have old water stains, with over-sized fore-edges and edges chipped, and with light wear to the spine ends. Overall a good tight copy of a very scarce title. Housed in a clamshell case with titles stamped in black on the spine.
