First edition. 7" x 8 3/4" pictorial red cloth, stamped in gold gilt and black on the front cover, decorated floral patterned front and rear endpapers, 96 pp., frontispiece (picture of the bombardment of the town of Falmouth by the British Brig "Nimrod,: 1812), preface, illustrated from photographs, portraits. 75 full page views and connective text. A brief history of the town followed by photographs, including: Birdseye View of Falmouth Village, the Town Hall, the New High School, the Village Churches, numerous homes of prominent citizens, Birdseye View of Woods Holl, Panoramic View of "The Anchorage" Penzance, the "Commodore Morris" (Whale Ship), and the Falmouth Captains Who Sailed in Her, etc. The photography is by Folsom, who is well known for his photographs documenting the architecture of Boston around the turn of the 20th century. Many of his original photographs can be found at the Boston Public Library. A wonderful photographic survey of Falmouth, Massachusetts. Inked gift inscription dated 1936, on the second leaf, binding a bit loose, cloth lightly rubbed, light wear to spine ends and corners, else a very good copy.
