First edition. 8vo. 9" x 6" pictorial wrappers with a lighthouse on the front cover and the words "The New Light Of Florida," 30 (1) pp. plus 9 pages of advertisements, illustrated, plates, maps, advertisements. On the title page is a small engraving of the U. S. Custom House and Post Office in Pensacola. A map of Pensacola, its Bay, and surroundings in 1877 is shown. Also a map of the Railway and Marine connections with Pensacola points out railroad connections in the U. S. and steamship connections from Pensacola to Havana, Cuba, Kingston, Jamaica, Vera Cruz, Mexico and other destinations. A former owner has written in pencil in the top margin of the title page, "The engravings are all correctly represented." Rear cover is an engraving of the Florida House at Pensacola Junction, and owned by the Pensacola Railroad Company, with the caption "Finest hunting and fresh water fishing in the South adjacent to hotel." This booklet promotes how and why to come to the Pensacola area whether for the tourist, home-seeker, businessman, or for those in need of a healthful climate. Views of prominent homes, of the bay, Fort Barrancas, the city, Santa Rosa Hotel, the marine terminus of the Pensacola Railroad, churches, ruins of Fort M'Rae, etc. A large section is provided that points out the cities of Mobile, New Orleans, and resorts of the Gulf Coast and how convenient they are to Pensacola. Spine panel is chipped, small corner crease to lower portion of front panel and to a few preliminary pages, small closed tear to fore-edge of rear cover, light wear to the extremities, interior intact and signatures appear strong and serviceable for an overall good copy.
