A bright and colorful catalogue promoting the line of horse blankets by S.W. Baker Company. The first mention of the Baker Blanket was in 1866 when the S.W. Baker Company of Providence, Rhode Island developed an "Evaporating Horse Blanket" specially designed to cool out a sweaty horse. Their catalogue features the distinctive 5/A label to be found on all true Baker Blankets. Among the numerous designs shown are "Little Giant," "F Kersey," "Electric," and "Russian" et al. The center fold features a chromo-lithographic plate of the Baker Blanket Company winning a law suit against other manufacturers trying to imitate their quality product, and illegally using their registered trade mark. Also there are testimonials.provided that support their position. The S. W. Baker Company makes the following statement: "You know that the Baker Blanket is strong, but you are probably not aware that it will stand twelve thousand pounds dead pull across the blanket. If your customer wants the strongest blanket ever made this is the one to buy. The railroad express and fire companies in the principal cities have all used this blanket for many years. None genuine without the Horse Trade Mark stamped on the inside." The trade mark of the S. W. Baker Company is still in use in this day. Covers lightly soiled and with a tiny hole at the top of spine area where a small string has been placed to enable the booklet to be hung. Overall a very good copy.
