Publication: Gordon Martin Publishing Co, Ltd, 1945, London

First edition. Former owner's Christmas gift inscription on front fly leaf, rear endpapers lightly foxed, upper portion of front cover lightly sunned, else a very good copy without dust jacket. Original red cloth with titles stamped in black on the spine. This is a 92 page version of the novelette "Death Rides A Boxcar" which appeared later in 1969 in the collection "The Case Of The Murderer's Bride", which was a paperback original. This is the true first edition with the original title of "Over The Hump" which is a railroad term for the method in which rail cars are sorted in the rail yards. A story of enemy agents, sabotage, intrigue, and murder with the sabotage of wartime equipment destined for shipment to our armed forces. Enemy agents working in the rail yards were finally brought to justice after some careful detection. A neat, patriotic, war-time story suitable for its time.
