Publication: Douglas Brothers, 1882, Philadelphia
The first edition was originally published in Chicago in 1882. Then republished the same year in both Philadelphia and Cincinnati. Our copy is the Philadelphia issue. 19.7 cm. The contents are the same in all three publications. Blue decorated cloth, with decoration and titles stamped in gilt on the front cover and spine, brown front and rear endpapers, ix, 11 - 520 pp., preface, publisher's preface, illustrated, plates, portraits. Six Guns 612 says "Scarce." "One of the better early histories of the Jameses and the Youngers." Front and rear endpapers replaced with papers closely matching in color the original endpapers, signatures re-sewn with original spine laid-down, lightly soiled at a few internal pages, else a very good, tight and attractive copy of an elusive title. An attractive copy.
