A fine original bronze printing plate for the full-page illustration that appears on page 127 of Home Ranch written by Will James and published in 1935 by Charles Scribner's Sons. The bronze plate measures 18 x 10.2 cm (7" x 4"), weighs one pound six ounces, and depicts two long horn steers in combat. The plate is signed and dated by Will James and the caption reads: "Which wasn't any too far from the nose of the dark red steer." Joseph Ernest Nephtali Dufault (Will James) 1892-1942 was a cowboy, writer, artist and illustrator of exceptional talent. J. Frank Dobie liked him and said in "Life And Literature Of The Southwest" "He wrote in sunshine" and "He knew his frijoles." This bonze printing plate is in fine condition, very attractive and a great Will James association piece.
