First edition. 6" x 3" oblong printed wrappers, 23 pp. illustrated. George F. Newman had a far-sighted vision of the importance of machines in the lumber, millwork, and furniture industries. This vision helped him to organize the company which today stands as a leader among manufacturers of woodworking machinery. In 1912, the company designed and built the first of its larger planers and matchers, the No. 97 (pictured). Acceptance of this machine was so great that additional manufacturing facilities were needed to supply the demand. In addition to planer No. 97, pictured in this booklet are planers, saws, rip saws, lath binders, etc. The company is in business today as Newman/Whitney Company. A bit of "nibbling" to upper rear cover corner, else a very good copy.
