Introduction by Dashiell Hammett. 525 pages of stories never before published in book form by L. A. G. Strong, Andre Maurois, W. B. Seabrook, Stephen Vincent Benet, Conrad Aiken, William Faulkner, Irvin S. Cobb, John Collier, Donald Wandrei, H.P. Lovecraft, and eight others. Tipped-in label on free front endpaper reads as follows: "John Collier's story GREEN THOUGHTS was published in a limited edition by Messrs. Joiner & Steele in February, 1932, and is here reproduced by their courteous permission." In Layman's Dashiell Hammett, A Descriptive Bibliography, he states on page 38 that he has "not seen" the dust jacket for this title.
