Publication: The Century Co, 1928, New York

First edition. 8vo. Cloth, [12], 356 pp., 8 plates, frontispiece. The author presents the life of Thomas H. Leforge, as told to him during numerous visits with Leforge. He grew up in Missouri and emigrated, with his parents to Montana in 1864. Leforge spent the next 15 years scouting with the military and living among the Crow Indians. Much information on the customs and culture of the Crow, as well as, various military campaigns against the Cheyenne and Sioux; including much on Custer, Miles, Gibbon, Lt. Bradley, Terry, and Crook, several of whom were served by Leforge and other Crow scouts. His story remains a remarkably accurate source of historical and ethnological information on this relatively little known tribe. Spine lightly sunned, light wear to the spine ends, else a very good copy.
