It is an original plat map printed by Clarke & Courts of Galveston in 1885: the date was arrived at by noting the courthouse was present in Abilene which was now the county seat of Taylor County. It was published by Louis C. Wise & Co. of Abilene. Various sub-divisions are shown; not all of them came to fruition. Wealthy cattlemen were the driving force behind the sale of land. The Texas and Pacific RR is shown going through the center of town. Stock pens and depot are shown. Light edge wear to one side else a near fine, bright copy.
