First edition. 8vo. Signed on the title page by Lynn R. Bailey. Red cloth, titles stamped in gold gilt on the spine, decorated front and rear endpapers, xiii [1], 337 pp.,The life of Lemuel C. Shattuck (1866-1938), who contributed mightily to the development and success of Bisbee, Arizona. There he developed the Shattuck Lumber Yard, became the Anheuser-Busch Beer distributor for Cochise County, built the Shattuck Saloon, involved himself heavily in copper mining, founded the Miners and Merchants Bank, bought real estate and mining claims, and much more. His bank was unique in that his office was never closed to anyone in need. He dealt in good faith, often with a handshake, and expected others to do the same, to the benefit of the little man as well as the powerful. He was a pioneer builder without equal. As new, unread copy in dust jacket.
