First edition. Fine in lightly worn dust jacket lightly soiled on along with lower crease to bottom of back panel. Within the borders of a booming frontier town four desperate people were secretly plotting. Carl Brotherton, who married for property discovering too late that he had the wrong girl, Jim Addis, the tough one who used men like pawns to fulfill his greed for gold, Tom Ellington, who had a bad record since the Civil War, and Hestor Johnson, the clever woman whose capacity for love was exceeded only by her talent for vengeance. All four dreamed up a personal design for living which inevitably became a scheme for dying. Conniving yet careless, ambitious yet stupid, three of the plotters were ensnared by their own grand ideas and forced into the crafty hands of the fourth. Beautiful dust jacket.
