First edition. 8vo. Cloth, ix [5], 184 pp., foreword, illustrated from photographs. Life on a Texas ranch in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Author lived near Ft. McKavett in Menard County, giving her good background for the history that includes chapters on her families life in West Texas beginning in 1884 and the Galveston Flood of 1900, includes San Angelo and Junction, section on family histories and genealogy list of wedding guests and presents received with quite a bit on the various ranches and their owners. Her family came to West Texas around 1884 and pioneered in ranching. Much on the early-day struggles of raising a family, communications systems, country doctors, etc. It's as much autobiographical or a family chronicle as it is about ranching. Former owner's inked name on the front free fly leaf, else a very good copy in a price-clipped dust jacket. lightly sunned on the spine, lightly soiled on the rear cover panel, small chips to the spine ends, and with light wear to the extremities.
