Publication: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1933, Boston and New Tork
First U. S. edition. Former owner's inked name on front pastedown sheet, but completely covered by the front flap fold. Fine in the rare, crisp dust jacket, lightly sunned on the spine, and with minor wear to the spine ends and corners. A man steals a book from his friend to teach him a lesson, but his friend is then murdered by a burglar, who later steals the book from the dead man's friend. The heirs and the British Museum try to hunt down the missing book. An exceptional copy of a very scarce title.
