Publication: Pocket Books, 1972, New York

First edition. PBO. Dell Pockette 50608. Very good in 12mo pictorial wrappers. First separate edition of this little-known novella by the author of Make Me An Offer and I Can Get It For You Wholesale. Published as one of about a dozen titles in the experimental and short-lived "Pockette" series designed as easy-to-carry books primarily aimed at women readers and priced at 50 cents each. This was at a time when a number of women's magazines were selling in the 25 to 35 cents range, which may explain why the test program failed. This copy is inscribed by the author, "I have no recollection about how this series got started or why it was abandoned, Jerome Weidman, 8/11/90." One of the scarcest of all paperback series, unknown to most vintage paperback collectors and unmentioned in all the paperback histories and price guides. When Crayne opened the door, he immediately smelled gunsmoke. Even before he saw the blood, Crayne knew that Kahli had been murdered! Little known and seldom seen Weidman item.
