First edition. 8vo. Light blue printed wrappers, printed in black, 24 pp., illustrated from photographs and black and white illustrations. This catalog originally mailed to Arthur W. Kraus (1881-1956), owner and operator of Sadler & Kraus general store in Aurora, Oregon until his death. The historic building burned down in 1990. First edition of this scarce catalog of work clothes from the iconic Pacific Northwest Company whose White Stag line would become by the 1950’s one of the most important in sportswear and ski clothing lines. The Hirsch-Weis company sold Tractor Brand (denim tested to see if they could tow a car), bib overalls, jackets, waist overalls, Union made cowboy cut jeans "waist overalls" as well as coveralls, carpenter & painter overalls, and more. Also sold were hunting vests, forestry suits, sleeping bags, work gloves, and Willamette Brand all-wool Indian blankets. Hirsch (1871-1959) and his son Harold were Jewish-American German immigrants who had purchased Willamette Tent & Awning in 1907 and expanded their offerings for decades, now marked by the historic landmark White Stag sign atop their former building. Covers lightly soiled, evidence of a small old water stain to bottom edge of pages, inked "W 29" to top edge of front cover, internally clean and tight, overall very good copy.
