First edition thus. Originally printed in 1835 in Boston. Green cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the spine, 192 pp., preface, introduction, folding map. Preface by Dorman H. Winfrey. A promotional book to encourage people to visit available lands in Texas, purchase land and to become residents. Woodman wrote this guidebook, one of the first in English devoted to Texas, to serve the purposes of the Galveston Bay and Texas Land Company and their promotion of lands in Texas. Contains a discussion of the various land grants in Texas, speeches and official reports on Texas, accounts of travelers' visits there, and testimonial letters from settlers.
