Publication: Privately printed, 1892, Chicago

First edition. 12mo. 7 1/2' x 5 1/4" printed wrappers, 32 pp., maps. Rear cover has a map of the Burlington Route's system. Large folding map affixed to the rear cover details the entire Burlington Route from Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul to Omaha, Kansas City, St. Louis, Denver, Cheyenne, and Sheridan. The booklet wants to attract settlers to Nebraska, Kansas, and Colorado and points out important factors including general description of the areas, suitability for farming, stock raising, etc., cost and profits, railroad facilities and markets served, churches, schools and culture, etc. A detailed explanation for buying land and payment programs. Adam's Herd 1611 and 1612 lists items similar to this one published in 1893 and 1895 respectively and each of which is designated as "Rare." Our copy is not listed in Herd and precedes the 1893 edition, and which Adams apparently had not seen. Perimeter edges of front cover tanned, small closed tear to fore-edge of rear cover, else internally clean and folding map in fine, unused condition. Overall a near fine copy of a "rare" booklet.
