First edition. Quarto in blue textured leather boards. attached to front board is a photograph of falls, shaded in blue and the title. Affixed to spine is ta label with title, year and Montana printed in blue ink. xv, 384 pp. Appreciation. Foreword. Contents. Mimeographed single-spaced typing. "The purpose of this volume is to record in somewhat more lasting form the personal stories of the men and women who played a vital part in the settling of Montana and in the birth of Great Falls." 11-page in-depth history of Great Falls followed by interesting biographies of approximately 145 individuals, approximately 1/3 being women. Wonderful accounts of life experiences in the 1800s. Not only does each biography offer birth information and family information, each offers stories of everyday life to include employment, businesses, holidays, mining, round-ups, railroads, Indians, overland travel, home building and furnishing, farming, religion, illnesses, ranching, wild and rambunctious individuals, etc. Previous owner's name neatly written to top edge of ffep and date written to bottom edge. We assume that not many copies of this book were created... probably copies made for members of the Cascade County branch of Sons and Daughters of Montana Pioneers in 1939. Light wear to corners and spine ends. Very good plus. Much information and history of pioneer life.
