First edition. 12" x 9 1/2" copper embossed wrappers, 104 pp., prologue, illustrated (most pages with 2 or 3 illustrations), maps. Folding map at the front shows the Cripple Creek gold fields, printed map at the front shows the wagon road and railroad ties of the Cripple Creek District, second folding map is of the Economic Geology of the Cripple Creek District. There are two folded views of Colorado Springs showing prominent homes, business buildings, etc. A well done overview of the gold mining industry and the prosperity it brought to the region, with 18 double column pages with details on all area companies and their holdings. Also views of the large hotels, resorts, opera houses, railroads, etc. that flourished in the region. Red stamp of the Pikes Peak Tunnel Mining Railway on front and rear covers and with a blueprint map of their line laid-in. Covers lightly soiled, 3" section at top of spine is removed, interior is clean, all maps are in fine condition, overall a very good copy.
