First edition. 12mo. Signed by the author on the front free fly leaf. Pictorial cloth, titles stamped in red on front cover, 130 [1] pp., frontispiece, foreword, illustrated from photographs. Laid-in is an envelope with Dudley Dobie's stamped address, with Moore's information written in pencil. Inside the envelope is a photograph of Moore stamped Apr 1, 1949, Robert's Studio, Texas. Also laid-in is a course card and on the back is a hand written note signed by J. Frank Dobie. Tate's Indians of Texas # 3450 says "An unconventional history of A. E. Butterfield's missionary work among the Comanches and Kiowas." Chapters include "Worked Cattle," "Horses Killed in Tula Canyon," "Camping Out," Quanah," "Adobe Walls," "General Miles," "The Butterfield Trail," "Old Ku Klux Klan," "Kicking Bird Tells of conversion," "Chief Ishati's Burial," The Peace Pipe Ceremony," "Miss Lou Hall Describes Ghost Dance," etc. Cloth lightly bowed else a very good copy.
