Publication: J S Ogilvie & Co, Publishers, 1881, New York
First edition. 11 3/4" x 8 5/8" printed wrappers, double column, 64 pp. (including covers). Buffalo Bill Cody was fairly well known in the West as a buffalo hunter and scout when Buntline went west seeking new inspiration for his prolific imagination and was introduced to him at Fort McPherson, Nebraska. The encounter resulted in Buntline's story, "Buffalo Bill, The King of the Border Men." Spine reinforced with paper tape, tears and chips to the front page, an old water stain to top edge of a few pages, reinforced at a number of points with adhesive-backed paper tape, the entire rear cover is completely backed and reinforced. Overall a good copy with the entire contents legible.
