First edition. Printed wrappers, (no pagination). First hand account of the Battle as told by T.C. Sherrill, a volunteer member of Gen. Gibbon's command during this important battle between the U.S. Army and the Nez Perce Indians, led by Chief Joseph. The Army opened a furious surprise attack at dawn, inflicting heavy casualties on the Nez Perce. The Indians regrouped and pressed the Army hard for the remainder of the day, killing and wounding many, before withdrawing and continuing their famous flight through Yellowstone and Montana. Important account. Slight damage to top edge of text block, else fine.
