First edition. Spine slightly faded, else very good in internally reinforced, moderately soiled dust jacket with moderate wear to spine ends and corners. Half the town claims to have been poisoned at a church supper by Phineas Banbury's tarts. Banbury insists that the poisoning is a horrible plot to ruin him, and he'll call on Selectman Abner Grove to prove it. Along with Asey Mayo, the two go to find Grove. In fact, they do find the man ... sitting in Banbury's Welcome Wagon, down by the bog ... dead .. surrounded by poisoned tarts. Although the rest of the town had been poisoned, Grove had been drowned!
