First edition. This archive includes the following: 1) Large photograph album documenting Carr's activities at the end of WWI and immediately afterwards containing 313 photographs, 12 maps, and 97 post cards, 2) Two albums documenting the travels of Carr and his family through the American West (ca 1923-1928) and 1928 to 1948, containing 446 photographs, and 3) Photograph album documenting Carr's professional career in the airplane manufacturing industry 1922 to 1946 containing 24 large black and white photographs. Album 1 is by far the more remarkable as it contains numerous photographs of war-torn Europe including: German pill boxes, lanes of barbed wire between Cambrai and Arras, ruins of the Hotel De Ville in Arras, ruins of British and German tanks left on the battlefields near Fluguires, Boche trenches at Flinery, German fortifications at St. Mihiel, battlefields of Verdun, Germany after the Armistice, etc. This archive offers a fine visual documentation of Gardner Carr's life from his service in WWI to his travels throughout the American West and Northwest, as well as his extensive career in the aeronautics industry through WWII. Light wear to the fore-edges and some light scuffing to the album covers, else all photographs are in very good condition.
