Other works by TABER III, THOMAS T.

Publication: Privately printed by the author, 2008, Muncy

First edition. 4to. Signed by the compiler on the title page and with the words "Book Number" at the bottom of the title page and the number "49" inked in by the author. Green cloth, titles stamped in gold gilt on the spine, [6], 753 [blank], plus 4 pp. of addendum, preface, mimeographed, illustrated, 5 color plates of vintage steam engines, maps, tables, section on notable railroad pioneers, a listing of the earliest operating railroads 1831-1840, colored lithographs, basic sources of information and assistance, about the author, index of railroad names, addenda. An overview of all the U. S. states of the Railroad Industry Up to the Civil War: Organizing and Finance, Track, Structures, Locomotive and Cars. This item was published by the author and we do not know how many copies were produced, although we doubt that more than 75 copies were published. Since it was mimeographed our feeling is Taber published as many copies as he could sell. The copies that sold were numbered with no upper limit noted. Additionally the author says "Additional information and corrections for future Addenda will be appreciated. These addendums will be sent free to purchasers of the book." This copy has 11 sheets of additions and corrections laid-in. Fine bright copy of a scarce and highly informative book.
