First edition thus. 18 1/2" X 13 1/2" black & white map of Nova Scotia, the northeast and contiguous parts of Canada printed from the 1746 issue of Gentleman's Magazine. The map shows in detail Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Cape Breton, the eastern coast of Canada and New England, a small portion of Labrador, along with the soundings. The map also includes insets of Quebec City, Fort Dauphine, the Atlantic Ocean, and a plan of the city and port of Louisbourg. Both the Louisbourg and Quebec insets each contain a key to greater detail. This map was based upon Bellin's original map published in 1744, which was the most influential and widely disseminated sea chart of the region during this time period. Original fold creases else a very good copy.
