First edition of English translation. #138 of edition limited to 500 copies. Boards with gilt-stamped cloth spine, 162pp., frontis, postscript, folding map. An excellent first-hand account of the author's experiences accompanying the annual fur trade caravan of Chauteau, Pratte, & Co., leaving Missouri in early May, 1839. He provides an interesting account of this small brigade of 23 during the overland expedition to Ft. Hall on the Snake River, and his return to St. Louis on October 31, 1839. Near fine copy with some very light edgewear.
