First edition. Fine in dust jacket. A pile of infants' skulls are unearthed during renovations at the London Police Station. An archeologist determines the skulls belong to Neanderthal infants, but Commander John Coffin believes that one of the skulls may have been added to the pile recently. If he is correct, it would mean that whoever placed the skull in the pit, already knew about the Neanderthal skulls. To complicate matters, a midwife and her daughters have been brutally murdered. The only suspect is the midwife's son, John, a well-known pornography collector. Coffin's intuition tells him that John is innocent of the murders and in some diabolical manner, their deaths are associated with the infants' skulls.
